General Shipping Information

General Shipping Options:

Rivendell Distribution offers multiple shipping options for small packages to large pallets we can ship them all. Most of our larger local orders can be shipped on our own Semi with a Donkey forklift to help unload onsite. Other smaller orders can be shipped via: In-Store Pick-up, USPS, FedEx, and our Local Trucks.

Our Local Delivery Truck

Rivendell Distribution currently has one delivery truck that runs Monday through Friday from March until November. We use these trucks to deliver both sod and hardgoods - the details of each of these programs are outlined below.

Shipping rates are calculated in your cart at checkout and based on your order total. Please make sure you have entered your shipping information correctly and, most importantly, your street address, zip code, and state.

Once your order has shipped, our order management system will send you a tracking number, so please be sure to give us your email address to be informed of when your parcel is arriving.

This page’s information is subject to change based on weather, carrier delays, stock delays, or other unforeseen circumstances. It may be updated to reflect our policy at that time.

*We have a two pallet delivery fee minimum for single deliveries.*

Sod Delivery

Rivendell Distribution ships sod on the western slope of Colorado within the region designated by the grey inset on the map below. In general this area consists of the I-70 corridor from Vail to Parachute, and south of Glenwood Springs on Highway 82 to Aspen.

Our sod is delivered in quantities of one pallet (405 square feet) or more, up to a full semi at 8,100 square feet. The delivery system includes Donkey forklifts and a push-off pallet system that places the pallets of sod around the area to be sodded. The truck driver will remove the pallets, leaving the customer with pre-plant fertilizer to spread on the soil, and sod to unroll and lay on the ground. Rivendell can generally fulfill sod orders in about one weeks time.

Please plan ahead when placing a sod order, as our trucks do fill up and aren't usually available for "next-day" delivery. Delivery prices for sod are combined with the sod price itself and are determined by the delivery location and the amount of sod being delivered. Please call us for sod delivery quotes.

Hardgoods Delivery

Our general hardgoods delivery area is the entire map below, bordered on the north by Steamboat & Craig, on the east by Vail, on the south by Montrose and Gunnison, and on the west by Grand Junction. Hardgoods delivery is available to Garden Centers and Nurseries, as well as Landscape Contractors purchasing product by the pallet or case. Deliveries within our delivery area can generally be scheduled within a week. Deliveries to locations more distant from Rivendell may take longer, and some areas are set up on a once-a-month delivery schedule (Steamboat & Craig, Montrose & Gunnison).

Delivery rates are determined by pallet space taken up by product and distance from Rivendell. Please contact us for quotes on delivery costs. Please note that we have a two pallet delivery fee minimum and we can only ship full pallet quantities of soil, mulch, and compost.
